First, install fs
, file-stream-rotator
and path
in your project
npm install --save fs file-stream-rotator path
Add the following code to your app.js
file:
var FileStreamRotator = require('file-stream-rotator')
var express = require('express')
var fs = require('fs')
var morgan = require('morgan')
var path = require('path')
var app = express()
var logDirectory = path.join(__dirname, 'log')
// ensure log directory exists
fs.existsSync(logDirectory) || fs.mkdirSync(logDirectory)
// create a rotating write stream
var accessLogStream = FileStreamRotator.getStream({
date_format: 'YYYYMMDD',
filename: path.join(logDirectory, 'access-%DATE%.log'),
frequency: 'daily',
verbose: false
})
// setup the logger
app.use(morgan('combined', {stream: accessLogStream}))
app.get('/', function (req, res) {
res.send('hello, world!')
})
Now when you access your website you will see a log
directory was created and a log file with a name format of access-%DATE%.log
was created in your log directory
