Example

Swipe gestures allow you to listen for the user moving their finger across the screen quickly in a certain direction.

Swift

override func viewDidLoad() {
    super.viewDidLoad()

    // Swipe (right and left)
    let swipeRightGesture = UISwipeGestureRecognizer(target: self, action: #selector(handleSwipe(_:)))
    let swipeLeftGesture = UISwipeGestureRecognizer(target: self, action: #selector(handleSwipe(_:)))
    swipeRightGesture.direction = UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirection.Right
    swipeLeftGesture.direction = UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirection.Left
    swipeView.addGestureRecognizer(swipeRightGesture)
    swipeView.addGestureRecognizer(swipeLeftGesture)
}

// Swipe action
func handleSwipe(gesture: UISwipeGestureRecognizer) {
    label.text = "Swipe recognized"

    // example task: animate view off screen
    let originalLocation = swipeView.center
    if gesture.direction == UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirection.Right {
        label.text = "Swipe right"
    } else if gesture.direction == UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirection.Left {
        label.text = "Swipe left"
    }
}

Objective-C

- (void)viewDidLoad
{
[super viewDidLoad];
UISwipeGestureRecognizer *swipeLeft = [[UISwipeGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:@selector(handleSwipe:)];
UISwipeGestureRecognizer *swipeRight = [[UISwipeGestureRecognizer alloc] initWithTarget:self action:@selector(handleSwipe:)];

// Setting the swipe direction.
[swipeLeft setDirection:UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirectionLeft];
[swipeRight setDirection:UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirectionRight];

// Adding the swipe gesture on image view
[self.view addGestureRecognizer:swipeLeft];
[self.view addGestureRecognizer:swipeRight];

}
//Handling Swipe Gesture Events

- (void)handleSwipe:(UISwipeGestureRecognizer *)swipe {

    if (swipe.direction == UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirectionLeft) {
        NSLog(@"Left Swipe");
    }

    if (swipe.direction == UISwipeGestureRecognizerDirectionRight) {
        NSLog(@"Right Swipe");
    }

}
